How to implement a 4-day workweek
Apr 6, 2023
We've been telling you for some time now (and there are now numbers to prove it), the 4-day work week is THE shift to consider for your business if you want it:
Prioritize the well-being of your employees (i.e., avoiding driving them towards burnout);
Get rid of your recruitment issues;
Improve your environmental impact; AND
Take one step further towards gender equity.
All of this, by boosting your team's motivation and increasing both the productivity of your employees and your profit margin.
For us, it's a no brainer, plain and simple. 🤷♀️
That said, it's also the kind of project that requires an excellent level of planning and preparation.
With the aim of giving you a little boost, here’s a list of small things to keep in mind if the adventure appeals to you.
PS. April and May are excellent months for preparation if you want to launch into a 4-day mode this summer! 🙋♀️
Pac Box List for Preparing a Smooth Transition
Define your formula | Are you more of a 4-day or 5-hour workday person?
Select your key performance indicators (KPIs) and define the timeline for your test phase (which should last at least three months)
Plan the project's communication with your employees and your clients | They will have all kinds of questions; do you already have the answers?
Send a survey to your team
Train your managers to equip them for the transition | What about follow-ups? Will there be resistance to change? How could they empower their teams more?
Train the whole team on various productivity techniques | Pomodoro, Flow, Eat that Frog… Which one resonates with you the most??
Define the final procedure for the days off on Fridays (roles, expectations, emergency management, points of contact, etc.)
Launch the test phase and plan monthly follow-ups (adjust as needed!)
Plan the post-mortem analysis and the final decision-making
Plan (CELEBRATE!) the permanent transition to the reduced work week
Looking forward to crossing paths on a hike one Friday! 😉
